ECYB Teams Compete in PONY Tournament

Two Teams Advance to District Championship Games

Updated Wednesday August 17, 2016 by El Cerrito Youth Baseball.

The PONY World Series tournament started over the June 23-26 weekend with El Cerrito Youth Baseball sending teams in the 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, and 14U age divisions.  All of our teams have represented ECYB well.

Each week presents a higher level of competition, starting with the district, sectional, and regional tournaments, with the winners hoping to keep advancing until they make it to the World Series.

Congratulations to the 10U and 12U teams for battling their way through their sectional tournaments to qualify for the regional tournaments.  They join the other four ECYB teams advancing automatically from the district to the regional level.

In the non-elimination district tournaments, two of our teams, the 11U Blue Jays and the 12U Fury advanced to the championship game but fell short of winning the coveted district banner.  The Blue Jays defeated Bel Passi 17-7 and Vacaville 12-1 but could not get past the North Bay Admirals.  The Fury emerged as the top seed in their pool and lost to Vacaville in the final.
