El Cerrito Youth Baseball (ECYB) is a community based, non-profit corporation, founded to provide children a positive experience in the great sport of baseball. We provide programs that teach the fundamentals of baseball and emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, fairness, respect for self and others, discipline, and practice. ECYB is a volunteer-run organization that works closely with our members and community. We are committed to providing this experience in a positive, fun, supportive atmosphere that encourages all players to challenge themselves on the field without fear of failure.
Our non-profit, volunteer-run recreational baseball program is for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 14 years old. . ECYB is affiliated with Pony Baseball, Inc. Kids learn sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, and teamwork. Our goal is to learn baseball fundamentals, build skills, and have some fun!
Here are the Pony Baseball divisions and their age levels (age is determined as of April 30)
Shetland (5 to 6 year-olds — T-ball & coach pitch)
Pinto (7 to 8 year-olds — coach & kid pitch)
Mustang (9 to 10 year-olds)
Bronco (11 to 12 year-olds)
Pony (13 to 14 year-olds)
Annual Schedule
Registration for all divisions: November thru January
Player evaluations: January
Practice begins: 1st week of February
Opening Day: 1st weekend of March
Season: March through 2nd week of June.
In an effort to maintain a fun and competitive league, ECYB strives to keep the skill level on each team as equal as possible. ECYB is a member of the Positive Coaching Alliance.
