ECYB collects a Parent Participation (PPF) Deposit of $100 from each member family. This fee is refunded at the end of the season only if your family completes a total of at least 10 hours* of Parent Participation during the year. Shetland-only families only need to complete five hours. Families with multiple players are asked to complete three hours for each additional player as needed. There is no distinction between hours completed to support league vs team activities.
Available jobs fall into four categories:
Exempt – These jobs afford an opportunity to get really involved. If you can step up to one of these jobs we thank you! You do not have to count hours or volunteer for any other jobs.
Seven Hour League Jobs - These jobs fulfill most of the 10 hour volunteer requirement, leaving three more hours to support your team. For Shetland-only families, these jobs will fully satisfy the volunteer requirement.
Team Jobs – Every team needs these jobs performed and we encourage you to sign up for them if you can.
Hourly – You can complete or round out your hours of required volunteer participation with any combination of these jobs during the season.
Families are encouraged to complete their volunteer hours early in the season, when there are more volunteer opportunities and options available. It may become very difficult to complete the volunteer hours requirement, if you start too late in the season.
Volunteer hours must fall into specific categories to count. Informally filling in for or helping another volunteer with their job from time to time will not count. Generally, only persons holding recognized "assistant" positions, such as assistant equipment manager or assistant webmaster, receive credit for such support activities. Job splits may be authorized under limited circumstances, but they must be approved in advance, and the split will not increase the total number of hours available for the position.
The managers and two primary assistant coaches must have completed the background check process and any required training to receive hours credit.
More information about volunteer rules is available in other areas of the "Volunteer" section of this website as well as the ECYB FAQ section.
